About General Science
General Science covers physics, chemistry and biology at roughly school level. Physics includes motion, force, energy, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, and the SI units for each. Chemistry covers elements and compounds, acids and bases, common chemicals in daily life, and metals and non-metals. Biology covers the human body, nutrition and vitamins, diseases, plants and ecology.
Exams like SSC, the railway recruitment exams and defence exams ask many science questions, usually short factual ones: a unit, a chemical formula, a vitamin deficiency or an organ's function. Regular revision of these facts makes this one of the fastest sections to answer.
Exams that test it
How to prepare
- Revise NCERT science up to Class 10; it covers most of what is asked.
- Keep one list of SI units and one of common chemical formulas, and revise both often.
- Learn vitamins and minerals with their deficiency diseases as pairs.
- Connect physics laws to everyday examples; it makes them easier to recall.
